Effects of a resilience program on behavioral adaptation in secondary school students post COVID-19, Hualmay 2023

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of a Resilience Enhancement Program on post-COVID-19 behavioral adjustment among students at Domingo Mandamiento Sipán School in Hualmay, Peru, in 2023. A quantitative approach was used, at an explanatory level with a single-group pre-experimental design, with a non-probabilistic sample of 80 secondary school students who completed a pretest and posttest of behavioral adaptation using the Behavior Adaptation Inventory (IAC). The Wilcoxon test was used for inferential statistical analysis. In the pretest, 57.5% of students were at a low level of behavioral adaptation, 35.0% at a medium level, and 7.5% at a high level; in the posttest, 67.4% reached a high level, 21.3% a medium level, and only 11.3% remained at a low level. The posttest mean (M = 67.28) was significantly higher than the pretest mean (M = 51.04), Z = -7.17, p < .001. It is concluded that, after applying the resilience program, behavioral adaptation improved significantly among the students in its four dimensions: personal, family, school, and social.
