Abstract

The research refers to reversing the terrible situation experienced by the residents of the districts of Sunampe and Chincha Baja with respect to the fact that they suffer the discomfort of odor pollution with adverse effects on health. The objective is to develop a technological proposal to reduce odor pollution generated by the oxidation ponds of Chincha Baja. This research used descriptive correlational, and the study population was the districts of Sunampe and Chincha Baja, with a sampling of 341 inhabitants, which were taken at random in 50% each; Two questionnaires were formulated regarding the influence of odor pollution and the perception of adverse health effects caused by oxidation ponds. The Likert scale was used in the questionnaire and selected responses. The results obtained determined that there is an influence of a greater perception of odor pollution depending on the distance from the place where the survey was recorded, and the existence of an impact on the health of the residents where the oxidation ponds are located, with a 95% acceptance. Therefore, it is concluded that the results achieved reflected an evident odor pollution, with harmful effects on the population of the districts of Sunampe and Chincha Baja.
