Abstract

Objective: To determine the presence and incidence of Calophya schini in the evaluated Schinus molle plants in La Molina. Methodology: Sampling was conducted weekly on 25 trees distributed across 5 sectors, considering the four cardinal directions and two tree strata (lower and upper), in addition to recording average temperature and relative humidity between April 3 and June 27, 2019. Results: This specie showed significant differences in the outer and lower zones of the tree, where it reached its greatest abundance. No differences were observed according to cardinal directions, but differences were found between sectors. In total, C. schini was recorded at 54,085 individuals in 26 assessments, making it the most abundant pest in the study. Regarding its seasonal occurrence, Calophya schini was the most abundant species of all the recorded pests, with a total of 54,085 individuals (adults and immature) counted in 25 evaluations, far exceeding the other species associated with the molle serrano. Conclusion: Calophya schini had a significant presence as a pest of Schinus molle in La Molina, with more abundant populations in cold seasons of the year, in the outer zone rather than in the inner zone of the plant, and in the upper stratum rather than in the lower stratum of the tree.
