Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on the learning of technical English in students of the School of Economics and Finance at the José Faustino Sánchez Carrión National University during the 2024-I academic semester. METHOD: A quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional design was used. A structured questionnaire of 20 items, validated by expert judgment (Cronbach's alpha = 0.89), was administered to a sample of 120 students selected through stratified probability sampling from a population of 245 students. RESULTS: 87.5% of the students perceived that AI tools improve their listening comprehension and vocabulary, and 79.2% considered that AI fosters autonomous learning. Furthermore, 82.5% of students showed improvements in their written production using Grammarly, and 74.2% showed improvements in their oral production through interactions with ChatGPT. A positive and significant correlation was found between the use of AI tools and academic performance in English (r = 0.68, p < 0.01). CONCLUSION: AI exerts a significant positive influence on the teaching and learning process of technical English in this student population, through the use of computer tools such as Duolingo, ChatGPT, and Grammarly.
